Christmas Gifts, made with Fabrics

Stimulating questions:

How many gifts do you usually make for the holidays?
What types of projects do you make?
Do you have any patterns, or projects you find easy and fast? (like quilt in a day, or weekend projects)
Where do you buy your fabrics, and when?
When do you start your gift making process? How many hours do you dedicate to gift making?
What shortcuts do you have when you need that last minute gift?
Do you have any creative gift wrapping ideas? i.e. making wine bottle holders or wrapping presents with fabric for your quilting friends, or tying quilting notions to the packages instead of bows?

My Life and Sewing.

Well, lets see I started sewing in school when I was about 13, was not very good at it, the did not have enough sewing machines so resorted t making a Check Blouse by hand, as you can imagine it was not fit to wear but made a good duster for my Dad's car.
In Australia we had three children in quick succession and not a lot of money so had to teach myself the rudiments of machine sewing, Bob bought me a treadle machine (we are going back a number of years) it was wonderful and he converted it to electric for me, and I made dresses, shorts, shirts and hats for the children as long as I had a pattern I could make more or less anything, even made a coat, years later.
One day I was reading a magazine which had a pattern for a hexagon quilt, made out of 3inch hexagons, I still have the half finished version and one day I will finish it.
Had so much fun creating and sewing this that I then bought a book on quilting and inbetween making clothes, I made quilts. Wall Hangings, Quillows, Lap Quilts and Single bed quilts.
I came back to the UK and now go to classes which has improved my quilting no end and have met some fabulous teachers and made a lot of new acquaintances.
I also joined an online quilting group which every fortnight have a chatroom and we discuss a topic chosen by the organisers.Address for this group is quilting weekly and all are welcome.
They have classes and information which are lovely and clearly written and also are available if you have any questions.
